The Veterans Service Officer is an appointed position. This office provides services to eligible veterans in Wilkin County.
The Veterans Service Officer:
- Processes claims for veterans benefits to Veterans Administration Regional Office located in Fargo, North Dakota.
- Coordinates veterans medical appointments at Veterans Administration Medical Center, providing limited transportation for the veteran to the Medical Center.
- Communicates with county and local nursing homes, medical centers and clinics whenever veterans require assistance.
- Disseminates updated information on veterans benefits to county service organizations such as VFW, American Legion, DAV, etc.
- Coordinates veteran related functions in the county and communities such as Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and other veteran related projects involving county veterans.
