The Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) system is used to perfect a lien on personal property. Information is provided on these records to the lending community for the purpose of determining loan agreements. The Central Notification System (CNS) is a method for buyers of farm products to receive information about outstanding liens against farm products that they buy. EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 2007 ALL CNS FILINGS MUST BE FILED WITH THE SECRETARY OF STATE ONLY.
